Catalans take food very seriously and they still have their town markets where you can buy all the local produce from the region. Catalans live their lives around their food, even taking two hours off work in the middle of the day to enjoy their huge lunches.
It is therefore no surprise that Catalonia is now world-renowned for its food and many of the worlds top rated restaurant are located here. There also are a number of fantastic local restaurants where you can get the real flavour of Catalonia. Do not be scared to try pigs cheeks, or black rice or cuttlefish, all of these are fantastic local dishes. We can recommend and also make bookings for you at local restaurants.
At Hotel Mas Pelegri we take our cuisine very seriously. We buy in fresh local produce and cook everything from fresh for each meal. This takes more time, for example in a normal restaurant many of the dishes are already prepared, stored and then reheated to order, therefore we ask that you prebook each morning if you would like evening dinners.
We usually start cooking at around 4pm for a 7.30pm evening dinner. Food hygiene is also taken very seriously and we do also have hand sanitisers available for our guests. Three course evening dinners are 20 euros per person per night and 10 euros per child under 10 years old and free for under 5 year olds.
We usually serve evening dinner to everyone staying in the Hotel as a group. We feel it is fun for our guests to meet people from all over the world and this also offers a time to meet up and discuss the days biking and also what routes you would like to do the next day. Most of our staff are cyclists, triathletes or mountain bikers themselves, so they are happy to chat with you about routes etc.
Special diets can be catered for at Mas Pelegri, please let us know when booking your stay so we can make sure we have everything ready for you. We are used to gluten free (celiacs), non dairy, vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, egg free, nut allergies and low sugar diets. But please let us know exactly what you require. We take food allergies very seriously.
On Wednesday evenings the kitchen is closed, so on that evening we take our guests who do not have transport out to a local town for an evening out.
Breakfasts are very important and a range of foods are available, to specifically suit the needs of our healthy and athletic clientele.
